Unseen Heartaches

Painfully,
I cried through the hopeless tears.

Sadly,
I began to realize the fears.

I walked the path where my fate leads

Unaware,
My heart slowly bleeds.

Unsurely,
I walked the path where my fate leads.

I tried to numb the pain

Hopelessly,
I tried to numb the pain.

Helpless,
These heartaches make me feel insane.

This poetry was originally written on January 1, 2002 (when the author was 17 years old) as a reflection on people who are undergoing depression. It was then published on her school’s college publication “ICON” for the December 2003 issue.
