The act of surrender does not always necessarily mean to quit or to give up. However, many people don’t appreciate the word “surrender” because they think it is somehow similar to running away from the battlefield. 

Some people think that to surrender means to stop trying or to stop fighting. It is thought of as a weakness that many people dread the most. Those who surrender are regarded as quitters — and in this world, being called a quitter can be a huge blow to someone’s ego.

The act of surrender is a virtue that may lead to the freedom of one’s mind and soul. When the mind is liberated from the things that imprison us, our true power starts to manifest.

Fortunately, the true meaning of “surrender” does not always come as negative just as many people think. In fact, the act of surrender is a virtue that may lead to the freedom of one’s mind and soul. The world may be full of chaos and conflicts, and life will throw stones at you from time to time. But this doesn’t mean you’ll have to live in distress and worry every single day of your life just because you are fighting several battles. 

Stressful Living & True Surrender

Stress comes from being anxious about not knowing. It is usually the fear of the unknown that causes worry, exhaustion, and anxiety. Given this, what can be an effective antidote to help alleviate one’s stressful living? 

Letting go.  True surrender.

True surrender is the act of letting go. True surrender provides peace. The tranquility that you can get from true surrender is a necessity for both your survival and growth, because true surrender liberates the mind and frees the soul. And only with a mind free from worries and a soul free from chains can one truly live and thrive.

The first step to true surrender is to accept the fact that there are things that we cannot control and change… That there are certain events in our life that don’t unfold as we please. And yet, no matter how things will turn out and whatever the future holds, life goes on.

True surrender means to live with spontaneity. You change what you can and live in peace with what you cannot control. 

True surrender means to get in tune with life’s harmony — you go with the flow and not swim against the tide. True surrender is striving without the need for suffering, and fighting without the need to struggle. 

The power of true surrender is so liberating that one doesn’t have to live with the burden of fears and anxiety about the past or the future. For there is an acceptance that the past is done and there is an understanding that the future is not ours to see. 

True surrender means having the awareness and appreciation that, even though we haven’t been to the Unknown, the Divine Master is already there. And these chains of events in our life — no matter how undesirable some of them appear to us — happen just the way they should. 

True surrender is living in faith and serenity that everything happens according to the Divine Plan — and that whatever happens, He got you covered.

The power of true surrender brings balance, order, and harmony in the way we think, act, and respond to life’s circumstances. It’s knowing when to push and fight, and when to let go and live life as it unfolds. It’s knowing when to take control of the situations and when to let things happen as they should. 

True surrender is living in faith and serenity that everything happens according to the Divine Plan — and that whatever happens, He got you covered.
